What to expect Pre, During and Post Anti-Wrinkle Injection treatment

For some, not knowing what to expect from an Anti-Wrinkle Injection treatment can be a bit daunting. However, when provided with a better understanding of what is involved in the treatment process, clients realise that it isn’t as daunting as they first thought, and feel much more confident in having the treatment.

So, if you have ever wondered what is involved in an Anti-Wrinkle Injection treatment, this Guide will provide you with a better understanding of what to expect Pre, During and Post Anti-Wrinkle Injections, and give you the confidence to start the process.

Pre-treatment process

Prior to your treatment and during the consultation with your treating Registered Nurse, together with the prescribing Doctor, we will have an in-depth look at your health history, assess your areas of concern that you wish to be treated, and determine if you are a suitable candidate for Anti-Wrinkle injections. To help you decide whether treatment with Anti-Wrinkle injections are right for you and to help you make an informed decision to undergo the treatment, your treating Registered Nurse will go through: What is involved in the Anti-Wrinkle injections, Alternatives to Anti-Wrinkle injections, Potential side effects, and Post treatment care.

Once it has been established that you are a suitable candidate for Anti-Wrinkle injections and you have made an informed decision to go ahead with the treatment, your treating Registered Nurse will perform a comprehensive assessment and of the areas of concern, in order to determine the best treatment options. Once the treatment options are discussed and outlined with you, a detailed and personalised treatment plan is created that targets your concerns, and also addresses your wants and needs so you can achieve outstanding visible and long-lasting results.

Pre and post treatment photos are also taken so as to visually monitor and compare the progression of your Anti-Wrinkle injection treatments.

During Treatment

Anti-Wrinkle Injections involve a series of small injections into the targeted muscle to effectively relax the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles to appear. The procedure is very quick and relatively pain free. Any discomfort resolves immediately after the treatment is completed.

The injections are generally well tolerated and feel like a very mild sting. If required to improve discomfort, pre-treatment application of ice packs, the use of relaxation methods, or topical anaesthetics can be applied to numb the area being treated.

During your Anti-wrinkle treatment, you are comfortably seated in a slightly reclined position on the cosmetic bed. The areas to be injected are then cleansed with a non-alcohol antiseptic cleanser. Before the treatment commences your treating Registered Nurse will map out the areas to be treated to insure treatment accuracy for the very best results.

Post-treatment process

Immediately after the treatment you might see temporary tiny bumps at the injection site. These bumps are normal and usually settle within half an hour after your treatment. Makeup can be applied straight after the treatment and you are able to resume ordinary daily activities as per usual, with some very small exceptions listed below.

For just 6 hours after your treatment, you are required to:

  • Reframe from strenuous exercise

  • Avoid alcohol consumption

  • Avoid applying pressure to the treated area, and

  • Avoid rubbing of the treated area, wearing glasses, hats or helmets.
