Laser Pigmentation Removal FAQ

Is my skin type suited for laser pigmentation removal?

Laser pigmentation removal using a Q-Switched laser machine allows for the majority of skin types to be suitable for laser pigmentation removal, with the exception of clients who have quite dark skin tone.

Clients who have very recently been exposed to the sun and have then developed a tan are also not suitable for treatment. During your free consultation our nurse will provide a determination on your suitability.

How does laser pigmentation removal work?

Laser Pigmentation removal works by utilising a state of the art Q-Switched laser machine to remove unwanted excessive skin pigmentation, such as melasma, age spots and sun spots.

The laser selectively targets the unwanted pigmentation within your skin (leaving the surrounding skin unaffected) and over a number of treatment sessions, results in an impressive reduction or complete removal of the unwanted pigmentation.

What laser machine do we use for laser pigmentation removal?

We use the very advanced, trusted and clinically proven medical-grade Q-switch Q-Plus C laser machine from Quanta System’s, which is designed and built in Italy.
Our machine combines two different lasers that operate at three different wavelengths, allowing it to very effectively remove most pigmentation concerns.

The three different wavelengths utilised by our Q-switch medical-grade laser machine are:

Nd: Yag 532nm – A green laser fantastic at removing freckles, sun and age spots, on lighter skin types.

Ruby: 694nm – A red laser excellent at targeting freckles, sun and age spots, suitable for most skin types.

Nd: Yag 1064nm – A near infrared laser which excels at treating melasma, hormonal pigmentation and uneven skin tone. Suitable for all skin types.

How many treatments may be required?

The number of treatments required to remove pigmentation concerns depends on a range of factors. These factors include but are not limited to:

  • Pigmentation skin depth and size,
  • Type of pigmentation,
  • Location on the body,
  • Lesion colour, and
  • Skin type.

Our experienced registered medical professionals will evaluate the pigmentation you are wanting to remove, during a free consultation.

What is the usual time gap between treatments?

We typically advise that clients wait 2 to 4 weeks between their pigmentation removal treatments.

What does the sensation of laser pigmentation removal feel like?

The treatment is virtually painless and most clients experience little to no discomfort.

Most people compare the sensation with the feeling of the quick snap of an elastic band on the skin. During treatment we utilise an advanced medical-grade cooling machine to lessen the sensation for you. Post treatment, a warm sensation may be felt for up to 2 hours but this usually settles fairly quickly.
